Uncertain Heart by Andrea Boeshaar is the second book in the Seasons of Redemption series but it reads well as a stand alone novel.
Set in 1866 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin we follow Sarah McCabe, a young lady eager to be independent of her family, as she searches for a career for herself. After disappointment at losing out on a job teaching music she accepts a position as a governess to four children of Captain Brian Sinclair.
Richard Navis, one of the Captain's employees, is anxious to end his indentureship and return to his family farm, where his heart lies. And then he meets and falls in love with Sarah. But while Sarah is a willing friend, she doesn't seem to want anything further to develop between them.
This book is a page turner you don't want to miss. Engaging characters and flowing dialogue make it an easy read.
