Congratulations to Amy for winning the giveaway copy of this book!
Amish Proverbs by Suzanne Woods Fisher is a beautiful little gift book. Chock full of colorful photos, quaint sayings and interesting stories about the Amish lifestyle.
Through firsthand research and personal relationships, Suzanne Woods Fisher has collected more than 200 proverbs that uncover the rich heritage, folklore, faith, values, history, and essence of the Plain People. These proverbs serve as teaching tools and maxims for practical living--but they're not just for the Amish. They're for anyone who seeks God's wisdom and truth for everyday circumstances.
Ranging from the simple to the profound, from the serious to the humorous, these sayings will stick with you through life's joys and sorrows. With beautiful full-color photos throughout, Amish Proverbs is the perfect gift for any occasion.
Suzanne Woods Fisher's interest in the Anabaptist cultures can be directly traced to her grandfather, W. D. Benedict, who was raised in the Old Order German Baptist Brethren Church in Franklin County, Pennsylvania. Fisher is the author of Amish Peace and the bestselling novel The Choice, the first in her Lancaster County Secrets series.
Suzanne's Amish Proverbs just hit bothe shelves. To celebrate she's giving away a KINDLE and throwing a party! Let the fun begin. See below for info and links.

Hey Jody, I signed up for the Kindle giveaway. How do I sign up for the book giveaway? Thanks! Julie
ReplyDeleteSince I know little about the Amish community, I think this book would be a good read
ReplyDeleteI've signed up for the Kindle also. Do we just need to leave a comment for the book? Amish books are very popular right now so this will compliment them very well.

I think what I find so inspiring is how the Amish have created their culture and way of life to follow and support their beliefs. Whereas, in mainstream American life, the beliefs and religious traditions are followed despite mainstream culture. Thanks for the giveaway opportunity.
ReplyDeleteI love that they are community who helps each other. I love that they try their best to forgive first. I know they aren't perfect..but they are hard workers and I love that!

I think the simplicity of their life is what appeals to me! Thanks for the opportunity to win a book! lenijay@gmail.com
ReplyDeleteI live near Amish and am saddened at times for their "working" towards salvation, yet I am ashamed by their community, as we do not seem to have the same in the "christian" community - where they help each other from paying bills to building barns.
ReplyDeleteThis looks like a great book. I love the simplicity of their lives and the time they afford to baking from scratch.
